14th - 16th October 2016 A streetwear themed pop up shop featuring a photo gallery and rail of clothes mixed with a mellow atmosphere.
Poppin Up is a popup streetwear gallery and shop where I am showcasing my most recent project centred around streetwear. For this project, I documented different people wearing different styles of clothing from local brands to worldwide known labels and self published my images in a zine.
The project was really fun to shoot - I was meeting up with new people and spending a day or two getting to know them while shooting. It's surprising to see how many different people I photographed over the three month period; people from all corners of the globe who are now living in the UK and have a shared interest in streetwear.
Most of the photographs were taken with a digital camera but I also was shooting with a Nikon FM2 film camera to capture the shots in a different style.
In the exhibition there will be a number of large prints displayed as well as other work by illustrators, painters and designers all closely focused on the streetwear theme. As well as photographs, there will be a clothing rail showcasing local streetwear brands as well as a space to hang out and meet new people. The theme of this gallery is something different for the city of Edinburgh to see and I am really excited to showcase the event to the public.
Free entry all weekend long.
